Brian Hofer is a privacy advocate and organizer with Oakland Privacy. He advocated for the creation of the Oakland Privacy Advisory Commission and served as the commission's chair from its founding in 2016 until his resignation in November 2025. He is the executive director of Secure Justice, a nonprofit civil rights and technology organization focused on privacy and police accountability.
